Adam Ulrey's Montreal Expos Diary

September 10, 2002 - Game 145

Javier Vazquez finally pitched a solid game, as over the past six outings he has been getting hammered. Vazquez though went seven innings striking out 10, while giving up just two runs to win his 9th game against 13 losses. The Expos received RBIs from five different players, leading the Expos to the 6-2 win over the Cubs.

Brad Wilkerson tied the Expos record for homeruns by a rookie by hitting his 19th in the 8th inning. Vazquez's victory was his 50th of his career. Vladimir Guerrero had three hits, raising his average to .335 to go along with his 36 homers and 98 RBIs. This guy is simply put one of the best players in all of the major leagues. Wilkerson leads all rookies in homers, multihit games (37), runs (84) and hits (125).
