Adam Ulrey's Montreal Expos Diary

September 7, 2002 - Game 142

Greg Maddux administered another whooping on the Expos. The Braves for the second day in a row shut out the Expos 4-0, holding them to seven hits. Maddux pitched just five innings giving up, all seven hits and walking five, but still kept the Expos from scoring. He lowered his ERA to 2.42 and now is 13-5. The Expos just can't find to get a run home as they now have scored just one run in three games. They left 11 men on base and only managed two extra base hits.

Tomo Ohka just didn't have it, he lasted just 4 1/3 innings giving up six hits and four runs. The reason he only lasted only 4 1/3 is that he was ejected for hitting Andrew Jones in the head after Jones hit home runs in the 1st and 3rd innings off Ohka. Ohka will probably be suspended, but for how long is still to be decided. The win by Maddux was his 270th of his career. The question now remains as he approaches free agency will he get his 300th with the Braves or a new team?
