Adam Ulrey's Montreal Expos Diary

August 30, 2002 - Game 134

The Expos just have no answer for the Atlanta Braves. The Braves came into Montreal and swept them in convincing fashion. In game one it wasn't Maddux or Glavine who pitched the gem, but one of their young phenoms in Damian Moss. This kid pitched eight strong innings giving up four hits and just one run while lowering his ERA to 3.20. He won his 9th game of the year in leading the Braves to the 4-1 win. John Smoltz came on to earn his 47th save. Vladimir Guerrero stole his 30th base to give him his second straight 30 stolen base and 30 homerun season in a row. For the Expos, Tony Armas Jr. just didn't have it; he lasted just 4 2/3 innings to lose his 12th game of the year. The Expos offense had no answer for Moss who was dominant.
