August 1, 2002 - Game 108
Guerrero does it again - walk off homer to beat Schilling

Vladimir Guerrero hit his second game-ending homer against the Diamondbacks in this series, connecting with one out in the ninth inning off Curt Schilling to give the Expos a thrilling 2-1 victory over Arizona on Thursday night. Tied at 1-1, Guerrero did it again, hitting his 28th homer on Schilling's first pitch. On Tuesday night he hit the game-winner against the DBacks closer Byung-Hyun Kim to win the series opener.

Schilling (18-4) was looking to get his 19th win of the year saw his six-game winning streak snapped as he lost to an NL opponent for just the second time this season. Schilling allowed just seven hits and the two runs in 8 1/3 innings as he pitched his fourth complete game of the year. He struck out seven to pass his teammate Randy Johnson for the major league lead in K's with 219, just four more than Johnson.

Tomo Ohka, who only lasted one inning in his last start, pitched eight innings giving up just six hits, while striking out three and seeing his ERA lowered to 3.61. Joey Eischen, who has been nasty all year long, showed it again pitching the ninth for his third win of the season. The former Dodger leads all the relievers on the staff with an incredible ERA of just 1.62. David Dellucci was the only hitter to get to Ohka, with his homer leading off the seventh inning to tie the game at 1-1. Andres Galarraga, who entered the game with just four hits in 46 career at-bats against Schilling, hit an RBI single in the second. The Big Cat, as he is affectionately known, went 1-for-3 and is 11-for-26 (.423) including three solo homers - while hitting safely in each of his last seven games.

With the homer Guerrero saw his RBI total rise up to 74 on the year to lead the Expos. They now are back to the .500 level, sitting at 54-54 for the season. Now it's bring on the Houston Astros for three games that will end this current home stand of the Expos.
