The Livingston Dodgers
Amache Internment Camp
These photos from a Japanese-American WWII internment camp have been recently uncovered.
Any picture taken by a resident is quite rare, cameras were considered to be contraband, and
were not usually allowed by the authorities. Shown here are the Livingston Dodgers, a California team
spending the war in Colorado
"Sometimes the ball would go through the fence. If we looked like we were going to go after
it, the guards would point loaded rifles at us and yell at us to get back. I really resented
being cooped up and not having the freedom to even chase a ball." - Amache resident Tom Shigekuni in
Robert Harvey's Amache: The Story of Japanese Internment in Colorado During World War II
