TDA - Bill Virdon InterviewPittsburgh Pirates great Bill Virdon took the time to answer a few of our questions. 1) How did you get interested in playing baseball? It was inherited. 2) Describe your signing. I couldn't wait! 3) What was the best thing about playing pro ball? A good living and doing something that was your first love. 4) What was the worst thing about playing ball? Travelling over the years. It gets old. 5) What was the highlight of your career? The 1960 (World Series championship) season. 6) Who were the best players you played with or faced? Willie Mays was the best player I faced, Stan Musial the best I played with. 7) What were your favorite and least favorite parks to play in? Sportsman Park in St. Louis was my favorite. Candlestick Park in San Francisco was my least favorite. 8)How do you think the game and players compare with your day? It's the same game, but the talent is spread out because of the number of clubs. 9) How differen an experience is coaching from playing? You worry about yourself when playing, you worry about 25 when coaching.
